Nature's touch is miraculous

Abstract paintings seem to be a big deal all the time, but what everybody hides from us is that paintings are the simplest and toughest things in the world. Give some paint or simply a pen to a toddler and she will create a masterpiece on whatever canvas you provide, and often that canvas is a wall! As a child, human being is very receptive and free from What-will-people-say thoughts and that is the reason they are so carefree, try reading their wall paintings and scribbles on newspaper it has a lot to say. Now, I am going to repeat a well-known cliché which is "nature is the biggest art and artist", yes it is but how much do we understand it?

Creating in itself is an enriching process, once we start to create many fears start to blur and this is how creating helps.

The picture you see here was created by my eight years old cousin under my guidance. We were having nothing to do in the lockdown afternoon and were watching our plants in our balcony garden, sunlight was poor which made many leaves fall. I picked up some leaves of Rangoon creeper and as a habit put them in one of my books. Later that noon I was watching a You-tube video of thread painting and then it struck  me that we can do that with leaves as we did back in school. Then my little cousin and I pulled out a sheet of paper and some paint, he was more excited than I was and we started printing with dying leaves. As I was guiding him and pushing him for the full prints of the leaf on paper what he said amused me " Didi it's okay half half is also so beautiful", then I let him do that. Now think, if an eight year old could understand how beautiful broken things can look then why not us. He went on to pick brightest colors in the box and I was surprised to see this vibrant piece of art, had it been just me doing this there would have been only shades of green and brown I guess.

We are afraid to pick up unusual things, we fear taking a different route to the same place, we fear to experiment and we bound ourselves. Our fear stops us from doing the smallest thing to the dreams we want to achieve. We are humans and it is all natural, we are being humane when we fear or hesitate but what we must do every day is keep up spirit and push ourselves to be little more and live little more. Small acts of courage can lead to big dreams and dreams are powerhouse!

In comments below do tell your little acts of courage and your thoughts on this blog. If you like my blogs then do share them with your friends and family, it helps me to keep going! Keep creating!

  2. As an output, I have a dissimilar perspective. First thing the way you express this story telling is interesting. Second thing is, as a child we do not carry much responsibilities so we do not aware of consequences before taking any step. So as we grow up, we sensitize of outcome before moving forward which comes with an experience so we think twice before doing anything because we start thinking about pros and cons and everything, we do because we carry responsibilities. That is why we afraid, I guess. Still there is two sides of this story and on a positive side, I loved that line said, "didi, half half is also beatifube" I am honestly so touched with it and indeed this is true. You both did great work together, artist. Keep doing you are inspiring.

    1. Yes I absolutely agree that as we grow up our experiences shape us but the we also start running from the most basic things and we start making boundaries for ourselves. Thank you for your valuable comment. :)

Art comes with a price

Art comes with a price and the price is discipline. In an ideal situation, assuming you have absolutely no other drama going on in life and all you need to do is sit and work on your art, even in this best situation what is required is discipline, routine of creating every single day and making things work. Art is demanding and one undeniable thing is discipline, you need to sit down, create a routine and follow the routine even when you are at your lowest. Great people who have existed and the ones who exist now have one thing in common to say and that is “Take time out and devote it to your art every single day".  Lately, I haven't felt really motivated to do anything but I try my best to be disciplined and put out something and something is always better than nothing. This is one such piece I created out of this mantra, I was not having much of a clue about what I want to create, turned out beautiful. Calligraphy can find its way anywhere, said my teacher and it stuc...

Nothing is better than a classic

Nothing can beat a classic Mandala. In every art form classics remain unmatchable, the timelessness they have cannot be matched and they seem too far away from hiding any poorly treated but true issues. Their backbone is their mirroring quality and impeccable strength to represent the truth. Like a good movie a good painting will definitely remind you about your life, your struggles, your hesitations and the truth hidden behind the sheets of sugar coated lies.  Best art comes out when you are bound; you are put under a number of restrictions. One flourishes under the pressure, limited resources makes us understand the importance of resources and makes us wiser; this happens because our energy gets focused on those limited things and gives space to organize and use them in the best way. It is a kind of a freedom one feels while working with boundaries. You know how big your arena is and how much you are allowed to stretch. While creating this Mandala, I had nothing in my mind....

Flashback: Mandala the life savior

It has been more than two years since I started making Mandalas. When I drew my first Mandala it was just for fun and the curiosity to create something new, since then Mandalas have been like a friend who is always present to listen to me and hold my hand. Over the time we have developed a bond which imparts energy to me and has become my muse. It has helped me get through my worst and cheered me at my best. Evolving with mandalas has been a thing, it is like a friendship. A kind of a friendship in which you know that there is someone at bay, and no matter if it has been months for years without talking but it is just there unconditionally. For me, Mandalas has been this unconditional love and support. It has taught me not just what it is (what mandala is?) but also helped me in awakening a part of myself which is mostly sleeping.   As it is said that Mandalas are a source of energy in itself and rightly so but to me this art is not just any art but something that holds ...
