What is Mandala for you?

Mandala and it's significance can differ from person to person, for me Mandala art is that corner of life where you feel everything will be okay and things will shape itself. It is a space which allows me freedom and never judges my repetition. Simultaneously for someone else it might just another form of design or it might be a thing for killing time for person sitting next to me in metro. Well, that is the beauty of Mandala; you can derive and understand and practice it the way you want.

I have seen many mothers teaching their daughters this art and I often question myself why there so less male participants in this art form, in India this art form is mostly considered gharelu i.e. which remains in home. Digging further into this I got know that in several parts of the country Mandala is practiced by brides to be, these girls go on to hand embroidery Mandala on rather big piece of cloth and later they take this with them as a memory. Here we are not digging into gender roles but the question is pertinent. The art itself never discriminates than why should we? click on this link to read interesting things about Mandala  https://artkizubani.blogspot.com/2020/08/mandala-is-more-than-what-we-know.html

The picture above is of the Mandala I created within a square and later erased the boundary, this turned out to be a different form, it is Mandala yet it looks incomplete until you decide to look at it for some time and realize that it is complete, it has a definite shape and size. This is Mandala for me, hours of gazing and coming up with a new story. Writers reading this take it from me, your writer's block can be healed with Mandala, it helps the creative juices to flow down rapidly as it provokes thoughts inside thoughts. Mandala knows no bounds so should you. Take a pen and paper try it out.

In the comment section below do let me know your thoughts on Mandala and this blog. Till then happy creating.

Art comes with a price

Art comes with a price and the price is discipline. In an ideal situation, assuming you have absolutely no other drama going on in life and all you need to do is sit and work on your art, even in this best situation what is required is discipline, routine of creating every single day and making things work. Art is demanding and one undeniable thing is discipline, you need to sit down, create a routine and follow the routine even when you are at your lowest. Great people who have existed and the ones who exist now have one thing in common to say and that is “Take time out and devote it to your art every single day".  Lately, I haven't felt really motivated to do anything but I try my best to be disciplined and put out something and something is always better than nothing. This is one such piece I created out of this mantra, I was not having much of a clue about what I want to create, turned out beautiful. Calligraphy can find its way anywhere, said my teacher and it stuc...

Nothing is better than a classic

Nothing can beat a classic Mandala. In every art form classics remain unmatchable, the timelessness they have cannot be matched and they seem too far away from hiding any poorly treated but true issues. Their backbone is their mirroring quality and impeccable strength to represent the truth. Like a good movie a good painting will definitely remind you about your life, your struggles, your hesitations and the truth hidden behind the sheets of sugar coated lies.  Best art comes out when you are bound; you are put under a number of restrictions. One flourishes under the pressure, limited resources makes us understand the importance of resources and makes us wiser; this happens because our energy gets focused on those limited things and gives space to organize and use them in the best way. It is a kind of a freedom one feels while working with boundaries. You know how big your arena is and how much you are allowed to stretch. While creating this Mandala, I had nothing in my mind....

Flashback: Mandala the life savior

It has been more than two years since I started making Mandalas. When I drew my first Mandala it was just for fun and the curiosity to create something new, since then Mandalas have been like a friend who is always present to listen to me and hold my hand. Over the time we have developed a bond which imparts energy to me and has become my muse. It has helped me get through my worst and cheered me at my best. Evolving with mandalas has been a thing, it is like a friendship. A kind of a friendship in which you know that there is someone at bay, and no matter if it has been months for years without talking but it is just there unconditionally. For me, Mandalas has been this unconditional love and support. It has taught me not just what it is (what mandala is?) but also helped me in awakening a part of myself which is mostly sleeping.   As it is said that Mandalas are a source of energy in itself and rightly so but to me this art is not just any art but something that holds ...
