Truly a giver

At any given time and at any place in this world someone is killing somebody to survive, whether they like it or not but they are killing. From a Blue Whale to us humans, we live when we kill. Either we slaughter the whole being or scrape the part of the creature because yes, life must go on.  In school we all learnt about the food chain and how the ecosystem works, as we grow the memories start fading, nearly forgetting the base of the food chain. The greens, the plants and trees which form the base are the only creatures in this world that doesn’t kill another living being to grow and survive. Yes, there are some exceptions here as well but do we even count the droplets of water in an ocean!

Just like any other afternoon, after filling my belly with food and enjoying the sun shining very harsh from my window in an air conditioned room this thought flew to me. Maybe this came from a Jamun tree who was soaking in the sun, blocking dust and filtering air which we were very busy polluting. Here, people say that this tree should be chopped off as it isn’t bearing any fruit but can’t we simply consider silent magic. It is creating that too without any demands, moreover it is providing shade to so many people and pets who take a quick nap under its shelter in a sunny noon. I felt like this Jamun tree was waving at me and I leaned a bit towards it and a conversation started. The only worry it had was that Earth is suffering because mother Earth loves us humans the most but the day isn’t very far when humans will lose their space. Many such close knit secrets were exchanged and I feel like it’s my duty to share some of those with you.

Jamun tree

Biggest of it, which isn’t even a secret but a forgotten truth that we live on what they create and to create that they don’t kill another living being is hard hitting truth which each one of us must acknowledge.  Let’s look at this closely, grass grows and grasshoppers feed on it which is consumed by slightly bigger beings like frogs, frogs are consumed by snakes and other reptiles which are food to Owls and other carnivores. Okay, so where do herbivores go? Well, they feed on plants which are living beings. So, even they are killing something. But, the plants and trees they soak in sunlight absorb water and create food for all of us and all this while they also make soil fertile, purify air, give shelter and list goes on.

Truly the givers, only givers we have on the planet Earth. They find their own light and water, but they love it when you look at them, admire them and pass on some secrets. They talk and they respond, you just have to be a bit closer. Next to you see a tree on a street, look at it and say hello.

Lastly, they will keep giving us for they are the most generous creatures but if you see a tree being raised your voice or at least pray in silence tell that tree that you understand what is being done to it. Simply acknowledge it. Never forget, we live because they die every day in some way.

 The co existence

A glass of water or bucket of water, lend them if they are thirsty for they will give us back in abundance. The only true givers and we must learn from them and say thank you.

More green is coming your way. Keep reading and spreading greens. in comments below do let know if you have every shared a story or secret with trees and your experience with them. If you liked this blog do share it with your near dear ones.

Collectively let's tell them loud that we know that they are givers and show them some love.

Art comes with a price

Art comes with a price and the price is discipline. In an ideal situation, assuming you have absolutely no other drama going on in life and all you need to do is sit and work on your art, even in this best situation what is required is discipline, routine of creating every single day and making things work. Art is demanding and one undeniable thing is discipline, you need to sit down, create a routine and follow the routine even when you are at your lowest. Great people who have existed and the ones who exist now have one thing in common to say and that is “Take time out and devote it to your art every single day".  Lately, I haven't felt really motivated to do anything but I try my best to be disciplined and put out something and something is always better than nothing. This is one such piece I created out of this mantra, I was not having much of a clue about what I want to create, turned out beautiful. Calligraphy can find its way anywhere, said my teacher and it stuc...

Nothing is better than a classic

Nothing can beat a classic Mandala. In every art form classics remain unmatchable, the timelessness they have cannot be matched and they seem too far away from hiding any poorly treated but true issues. Their backbone is their mirroring quality and impeccable strength to represent the truth. Like a good movie a good painting will definitely remind you about your life, your struggles, your hesitations and the truth hidden behind the sheets of sugar coated lies.  Best art comes out when you are bound; you are put under a number of restrictions. One flourishes under the pressure, limited resources makes us understand the importance of resources and makes us wiser; this happens because our energy gets focused on those limited things and gives space to organize and use them in the best way. It is a kind of a freedom one feels while working with boundaries. You know how big your arena is and how much you are allowed to stretch. While creating this Mandala, I had nothing in my mind....

Flashback: Mandala the life savior

It has been more than two years since I started making Mandalas. When I drew my first Mandala it was just for fun and the curiosity to create something new, since then Mandalas have been like a friend who is always present to listen to me and hold my hand. Over the time we have developed a bond which imparts energy to me and has become my muse. It has helped me get through my worst and cheered me at my best. Evolving with mandalas has been a thing, it is like a friendship. A kind of a friendship in which you know that there is someone at bay, and no matter if it has been months for years without talking but it is just there unconditionally. For me, Mandalas has been this unconditional love and support. It has taught me not just what it is (what mandala is?) but also helped me in awakening a part of myself which is mostly sleeping.   As it is said that Mandalas are a source of energy in itself and rightly so but to me this art is not just any art but something that holds ...
